Whale Watching Season on Dominica

Dominica is home to more inspiring creatures than our beloved sea turtles. In fact, the Nature Island has a reputation as the “Whale Watching Capital of the Caribbean” welcoming up to 22 different types of whales to its waters. The most common species found off the coast of Dominica is the Sperm Whale. In fact, Dominica is the only country in the world where this type of whale resides year round.

Although the sperm whales are here throughout the year, peak whale watching season on Dominica is from November through March when the chances of whale sightings are at an all-time high of 90%. Popular points on island for spotting the deep diving animals include Scotts Head, Roseau, Layou and Point Round.

On your next visit to Rosalie Bay Resort, book a whale watching sail trip for your chance to see these magnificent creatures. It’s a fun afternoon at sea and if you don’t see whales, you may have a chance to see a pod of dolphins!

Here’s a video and a few photos from a recent whale watching trip where seven whales were spotted.
