View through an artist’s eyes

Roger Burnett is one of the many artists and artisans that reside here on Dominica. His gallery, which sits on 2.5 acres, is on the way to Roseau from Rosalie Bay Resort.

After giving up a career in engineering design, Roger became an artist and set sail first in Europe and later in the Caribbean. His studios have included “a shack alongside an idyllic cove in the Virgin Islands to a cavernous church assembly hall in the North of England.”

He’s been on the Nature Island since 2005. His studio now is a garden setting in the Antrim Valley on the west coast of Dominica. Currently, Roger focuses his works on the figure with paintings and sculptures in in wood, bronze, clay and plaster.

Roger recently shared on his blog that after 20 years, he was “in the mood” to return to sketching a beach and found inspiration on the rocky shores of Rosalie Bay. Below is the image he shared.

If you are interested in seeing more of Roger’s works, the Front Desk would be happy to arrange a trip to visit Roger’s studio and gallery.
