Guiding principles of our Dominica eco lodge

An environmental pioneer and leading eco lodge on Dominica, Rosalie Bay Resort is home to the island’s first wind turbine and founded the nation’s sea turtle conservation program saving hundreds of turtles.

Our eco resort on Dominica is committed to providing a high quality guest experience while minimizing our impact on the environment by using renewable energy and other eco-friendly practices.

For us, sustainability isn’t a fad or something we take lightly. It has been engrained in everything we do at our Dominica eco lodge, from conception to construction through operation today.

Environmental policy

  • Operate in compliance with all relevant environmental legislation.
  • Integrate the consideration of environmental concerns and impacts into our daily decision-making and activities, and continuously seek to improve our environmental performance.
  • Promote environmental awareness, and educate our employees on environmental issues and sustainable working practices.
  • Be an environmentally responsible neighbor in the community, and correct incidents or conditions that endanger health, safety or the environment.
  • Develop and improve operations and technologies to minimize waste and other pollution. Seek substitutions when feasible, minimize health and safety risks, and dispose of waste safely and responsibly.
  • Reduce waste through re-use and recycling, and by purchasing recycled, recyclable or refurbished products and materials where these alternatives are available, economical and suitable.
  • Ensure the responsible use of energy throughout our business, including conserving energy, improving energy efficiency, and giving preference to wind and solar power over non-renewable energy when feasible.
  • Communicate our environmental commitment to clients, customers and the public, and encourage them to use products and services in an environmentally friendly way.
  • Promptly correct any practice or condition not in compliance with this policy.
  • Follow sustainable tourism best practices as outlined in our Sustainability Management Plan.
