Escape to Rosalie Bay: A Sanctuary for Wellness and Conservation

Marisa Sabaroche-Jules • March 18, 2025

For those searching for a truly restorative getaway, Rosalie Bay Eco Resort & Spa offers something rare—a retreat into nature, where comfort meets conservation. Nestled on a secluded black sand beach in Dominica, Rosalie Bay is more than just a wellness destination. It’s a haven for those looking to detox from the chaos of everyday life while supporting an extraordinary sea turtle conservation program.

Why Rosalie Bay is Different

Unlike resorts with bustling nightlife and endless entertainment, Rosalie Bay is intentionally off the beaten path. This is where you trade traffic noise for the rhythmic crash of waves, where your alarm clock is the gentle breeze and chirping birds. With no distractions, this is a place to reconnect—with yourself, with nature, and with the remarkable creatures that grace our shores.

Our wellness amenities are designed for travelers seeking relaxation and rejuvenation. Whether you indulge in our Rejuvinature Wellness Program, detox with fresh, organic cuisine, or unwind in our oceanfront spa, Rosalie Bay nurtures your body and mind in a way few places can.

Turtle Season: When Nature Takes Center Stage

While we welcome guests year-round, our most frequent visitors arrive during the low season—Dominica’s magnificent sea turtles. From April to June, giant leatherbacks make their way onto our protected beach to lay their eggs. We also welcome the beautiful hawksbill and green turtles, each playing their role in the delicate marine ecosystem. By July and August, tiny hatchlings emerge, beginning their journey to the sea. It’s a rare and humbling experience to witness nature’s cycle up close, one that leaves an unforgettable impact on those lucky enough to see it.

As a conservation resort, every stay at Rosalie Bay supports this delicate ecosystem. Your contributions help fund our turtle nurseries, keep the nesting beaches pristine, and ensure that future generations of sea turtles continue to thrive. Want to take your impact further? Participate in our Sea Turtle & Me program, adopt a hatchling, and track its journey as it navigates the open ocean. Be part of our team in relocating eggs to safer spaces, ensuring that more hatchlings get a fighting chance—after all, it takes approximately 1,000 eggs to produce just one full-grown leatherback turtle.

The Best Time to Visit & Seasonal Savings

Traveling during the low season comes with its perks. Beyond fewer crowds, this is when you’ll find our best rates on wellness stays, allowing you to experience the tranquility of Rosalie Bay while making a direct contribution to conservation efforts.

Low season is also a great time to immerse yourself in local culture. Join us for Jazz by the River, celebrate Easter and Mother’s Day with a special retreat, or—for photographers—capture the beauty of Dominica’s untouched landscapes with renowned photographers Randy Kerr and Doug Box during our exclusive Peace Park Photo Eco Course. Every event at Rosalie Bay supports our mission to preserve this pristine sanctuary.

Sustainable Travel: Making a Real Impact

With climate change and plastic pollution threatening marine life, sustainable travel isn’t just a trend—it’s a responsibility. Choosing Rosalie Bay means making an intentional decision to support a resort that prioritizes the environment. All proceeds from our conservation efforts go directly toward keeping our turtle nesting beach pristine, protecting these creatures, and maintaining the delicate ecosystem they rely on. Your visit ensures that we can continue these efforts year after year.

Unplug, Unwind, and Make an Impact

Rosalie Bay isn’t just a resort—it’s a movement. A place where travel meets purpose, where every visit contributes to something greater. If you’re craving a wellness escape that nourishes your soul while giving back to the planet, book your stay with us. Come for the peace, stay for the turtles, and leave knowing that your visit has made a lasting difference.
