The journey to Sari Sari Falls is what you dream about when you envision a raw, in-your-face tropical jungle experience — full of adventure for the intrepid hiker that is looking for a close encounter of the rainforest kind.

After a 20-minute drive, you will arrive at the village of La Plaine, home to many of the Rosalie Bay staff. You begin your hike on an overgrown roadway then walk through a cow pasture full of guava and grapefruit trees, laced with passion fruit vines. Where the pasture meets the forest, you are immediately engulfed in the canopy as you descend toward the river.

After 45 minutes to an hour of hiking, scrambling over slippery rocks, boulders and fallen logs, you reach the viewing platform for the 250 foot waterfall. On the return trip, take time to enjoy a refreshing dip in the freshwater pools.

From the parking area, a short 15 minute drive south brings you to the volcanic ocean pools of Glasi in the village of Boetica. The mile long gentle path meanders through farmland and down through the rain forest, alongside a stream. Gorgeous views of sea cliffs, breaking surf and teal ocean offer breathtaking photos. Pass along side volcanic stone “sculptures” that lead to the rock jetty with three bathing pools. This has always been a favorite fishing spot for locals. Bird enthusiasts may witness nesting on the adjacent L’Islet and view Martinique in the background.

Full-day tour departs Thursday at 9:30 a.m. and returns at approx. 3:30 p.m. Bring hiking shoes, backpack, swimsuit, towel and camera. Packed lunch available for purchase.
