WATO Drums & Fire

On April 30, 2022 from 12 to 7 pm, is an outdoor cooking and drums experience at Rosalie Bay that you won’t want to miss!

The name ‘WATO’ derives from the Kalinago language and translates to ‘fire’. Participants of this unique experience will cook their meals in an open fire live and direct. A hand on experience! Guest will be given a box of local ingredients which they will use to cook their own meals using any recipe or process of their choosing. They will be guided by Chef Nyanda and some of the amazing Rosalie Bay staff. Condiments and cooking tools will be provided, as well.

Local Rums & cocktails will be available and guests will receive 3 drink tickets upon entry (2 alcoholic and 1 non-alcoholic).

It is an experience of Dominican culture and identifying the knowledge and skills of all the cultural and ethnic components of the island.

This event has been upgraded to not only food but music. It will officially be noted this year as ‘WATO DRUMS & FIRE’ as we will be highlighting our ancestral instrument ‘THE DRUMS’.

So come to COOK! Come to DANCE! Come to experience some AUTHENTIC DOMINICAN CULTURE!
