This week we are sharing two yoga poses you can use in sequence to incorporate into your yoga routine and strengthen your body.
Crescent lunge
Crescent lunge is a great pose to help create strength and balance within the body. It is a full body pose stretching and strengthening the spine, arms, legs and belly.
From a standing position:
- Take a giant step forward with your right foot
- Bend the right knee deeply and try to get the thigh parallel to the ground
- Reach both arms up toward the sky with the palms facing each other
- Hold for 5 deep breaths
Crescent twist
Crescent twist massages the digestive organs improving digestion while stretching the buttocks legs, spine and shoulders.
From crescent lunge:
- Take your hands to prayer position with the thumbs resting on your sternum
- Twist toward the right, press your left elbow against the outside of your right knee and twist deeply
- Breathe deep from your diaphragm
- Lengthen your spine on the inhale
- Twist on the exhale
- Hold for 5 deep breaths
Tip: If it is difficult to balance in either pose, lower your back knee to the ground for stability. Complete the sequence with conscious relaxation.
