Rosalie Bay Owner Quoted in BBC Ethical Travel Article

BBC-Travel-LogoThe BBC recently took an in-depth look at the “Top 10 Ethical Destinations” for 2014 by Ethical Traveler, in which Dominica was honored earlier this year.

In the recent article, “The World’s Most Ethical Countries: 2014,” the BBC.com describes ethical travel as “a movement that encourages travellers to be mindful about the impact of bringing tourism dollars to one country over another.”

It reports that one of the reasons Dominica made the list in 2014 is that the Nature Island plans “to become carbon negative – that is, minimize and offset carbon emissions – by 2020.”

When it comes to environmentally and socially conscious places to stay, BBC.com recommended Rosalie Bay as one of two resorts located in the top ethical destinations. Our eco-boutique resort is highlighted for the use of renewable wind- and solar-powered energy, organically and locally sourced food, and sea turtle conservation program.

Resort owner Beverly Deikel is quoted in the article about the importance of being an ethical travel resort, saying, “I believe that we, as a tourism entity, have a responsibility to the travelling public and the beautiful destination we represent to use natural resources in a way that protects the local environment and improves the well-being of its residents.”
