Have you witnessed the simply magical moment when a giant sea turtle crawls ashore to search for a spot to nest? Now you can follow turtles on their journey after they’ve visited our black sand beach.
Sea Turtle Tracking
Earlier this season, biologists came to Rosalie Bay Resort to attach satellite transmitters to leatherback sea turtles on our beach. Tracking their journey are Georgia Aquarium and Dominica Sea Turtle Conservation Organization (Domsetco). The organizations are working in partnership for the research and conservation of sea turtles on Dominica.
According to the biologists, studying the time and space of turtle migration is important. With so many island nations in close proximity to one another, understanding the finer scale movements of the endangered leatherback is essential to ensure coordinated protection of nature’s creatures.
