Rosalie Bay Launches Recycling Program

Reduce. Reuse. Recycle.

We are pleased to announce that our eco-boutique resort has recently launched a resort-wide recycling program. Glass and plastic containers, cans and tins, tetra paks and cardboard will all be recycled at Rosalie Bay.

The resort will continue to compost the biodegradable items produced by the kitchen. And, the Dominica Solid Waste Management Corporation will collect our recyclable materials every two weeks.  This is a big step for us as recycling is a recent opportunity offered in Dominica.

Eco-Training

To involve all staff in this green initiative, we hosted a two-week, hands-on implementation period. Eco-trainings were conducted for maintenance, kitchen and housekeeping departments.

Each team learned the importance of recycling, the 3R’s concept (Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle) and the recycling process at the resort. Staff are now trained in the sorting of waste into three categories, recyclables, compost and trash.

Why Recycle?

These sustainable efforts will help to reduce pollution and degradation on Dominica. To measure the reduction of waste, we will be recording the weight of the waste that we send to the landfill.

We look forward to seeing these efforts make a difference.

Stay tuned for recycling tips you can bring into your home, and the positive effects recycling has on our planet.
