What is meditation?

Meditation is a mental practice that involves training the mind to focus on a particular object, thought, or activity to achieve a state of calm and relaxation. It is often used to reduce stress and anxiety, improve concentration and focus, and promote a sense of well-being.


Meditation typically involves sitting comfortably with your eyes closed, while focusing on breathing or a particular mental image or mantra. The aim is to quiet the mind and bring awareness to the present moment, without getting caught up in thoughts or distractions.


There are many different types of meditation, including mindfulness meditation, transcendental meditation, and loving-kindness meditation, among others. Each type has its own unique technique and goals, but they all share the common goal of training the mind to be more focused, calm, and present.
