Sea turtle season update

We’re two months into the sea turtle nesting season for 2012 and have seen an increase in turtle arrivals along our black sand beach since last month’s update.

There are a total of 11 confirmed nests now at Rosalie Bay Resort. Seven of which are Leatherback nests and four are Green turtles.

Did you know that Green sea turtles often return to the same spot to nest on average of 5 to 8 times? The four Green sea turtle nests at Rosalie Bay Resort were from two turtles. One Green sea turtle has returned to Rosalie Bay three times (so far) to nest.

If you’re visiting us this turtle season, learn more about the gentle giants by joining Turtle Expert Simon George for his moonlight educational walks along the beach.

Also, to not miss a chance to see a nesting turtle who arrive late at night, sign up for a “wake-up call” at the Front Desk.
