Wellness Wednesday: Adding Cabbage to Your Diet

Weekly tips to bring island-inspired wellness into your everyday life from the wellness and spa team at Rosalie Bay Resort, Dominica. Post written by Spa and Wellness Coordinator Laura Lund.

In Dominica, cabbage is used in stews, tossed with salads or served on its own either steamed or grilled. At Rosalie Bay, it grows in our organic garden and is offered in many dishes at Zaaman Restaurant.

It’s widely used, not only because it grows easily, but also because it is incredibly healthy.

Cabbage is capable of lowering cholesterol, and is even more effective when steamed. It offers compounds that are anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory and can help prevent cancer, especially of the colon, breast, prostate and bladder.

By adding just a half-cup serving several times per week, you can reap all the benefits of this amazing vegetable. So eat to your good health!
