Wellness Wednesday: Manage Holiday Stress

Weekly tips to bring island-inspired wellness into your everyday life from the wellness and spa team at Rosalie Bay Resort, Dominica. Post written by Spa and Wellness Coordinator Laura Lund.

The holidays are just around the corner, and although it is a special time to gather with friends and family it may also be a time of heightened stress.

An abundance of holiday snacks and treats, a schedule full of celebrations and gatherings, and picking out gifts for loved ones are all part of the holiday spirit. But if these things leave you feeling overwhelmed, it is important to recognize signs of stress and address them.

Stress can increase insulin and cortisol levels, signaling the body to store fat and potentially causing additional health problems. To combat stress, try conscious relaxation. Relaxation improves digestion, and reduces insulin and cortisol levels. In addition, when you slow down and relax you are less likely to reach for that extra holiday treat.

If this holiday season has you stressed, Rosalie Bay may be the perfect antidote to slow down and relax. Give yourself the gift of a stress free and healthy holiday amidst the peaceful surroundings of our resort. Enjoy yoga, spa treatments, healthy meals, hiking and more.
